I got the materials for my new bag! There’s enough of this vintage-faux-native material to make a couple probably. And, enough acid washed shirt to trim everything I own.

I’ve had to mend so many holes and straps on all of my bags lately, that I decided to make a new one myself. A couple days ago I set out looking for a good flannel and some tough water resistant material to make a duffel bag. I managed to find both of these in one very worn, very old Calvin Klein parka at a thrift store. $18 was a bit much, but it offered a lot of material and fasteners to work with.
First I reshaped the coat lining into the outside of the bag. Then, fixed the bottom and interior of the bag with the outer, water resistant fabric. Next made straps out of a few folded layers of the coat lining and some leather handles from what was once a collar. After making some pockets and adding snaps, I sewed the coat zipper on and just some 6 hours after I started… my new backpack!

‘Black Birds & Emerald Hills’ Weaving.
Cotton warp and wool weft on a two harness, table-top loom.
I haven’t worked on my loom in quite some time.. so the design is kind of simple (even for a two harness loom), but I had to get back in the swing of things! Plus, I was able to do this in one day!

This morning, before work, I feverishly began to reline the inside of my ‘Desperately Seeking Susan’ Jacket with a zebra knit I’ve been saving… for just the occasion!

And just in time for winter!

I bought a bunch of merino wool yarn yesterday! Also, I started drafting a pattern for the navajo/ occult themed scarf I’m going to weave… I didn’t want to make it too overtly spooky, but it’s looking more like something from an 80’s mall clearance rack than a wiccan closet… I guess I just have to keep in mind,

What Would Wiccans Weave?

Last night I finally got around to dressing the loom I’ve had out on the patio for over a year. It’s a pretty basic table loom with only two harnesses, so I wont have the option to create woven patterns… but tapestry shouldn’t be a problem! I’m thinking I’m ganna make a navajo/ occult themed scarf.
Too excited, can’t wait!

Homemade Gun Holster!

I have to take some better photos… but, here it is! The strap was made from one 1” wide belt, split in two, and the gun case was made from one 2” wide belt. I sized it to my [neglected] BB Pistol, so it’s actually pretty functional.

Though, I can’t imagine when I’ll use it, it looks pretty grizzly and rad. Yay
